Utilizing a number of different techniques, Soft Tissue Therapy can help with back pain, neck pain, rotator cuff injuries (shoulder pain), medial epicondylopathy (golfer’s elbow), Lateral epicondylpathy (tennis elbow), knee pain, shin splints, Achilles tendinopathy, and plantar fasciitis. Some of the modalities we use at One80 Chiropractic and Functional Rehab are IASTM (Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization) taping, and cupping.
(IASTM) is a soft tissue therapy where a stainless steel instrument is glided along the skin using an emollient. The purpose of this treatment is to break up scarring, reduce fascial restrictions, and normalize overactive or underactive muscles. By bombarding the central nervous system with stimulation it is able to reboot the nervous system and restore proper tone in the tissues.
Cupping is a soft tissue therapy that uses the application of a glass or plastic cup to create a vacuum-like pressure over the tissue. Cupping can help with pain, inflammation, improve blood flow, and relax tight muscles.
Taping can be used to help improve muscle function, decrease pain, improve lymphatic flow, decrease swelling, reduce strain on soft tissue, assist with joint alignment and poor posture. One80 uses a pre-test model of taping to help ensure the correct taping technique is used. This helps to facilitate healing when not in the doctor's office.
