What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a therapy that uses thin needles that are inserted in or around muscle trigger points. The focus of dry needling is to achieve a local twitch response to release muscle tension and pain. Dry needling is effective for pain management, muscle tension, and normalize nerve firing.
What should you expect from a dry needling visit?
A dry needling treatment will include the patient lying on the table with the complaint area skin exposed. The needles will be inserted into the muscle. The needles are typically left in for 5-10 minutes. Electrical stimulation may or may not be hooked up to the needles to increase the efficacy of the treatment.
